I have devoted a lifetime to exploring how engaging piano, song, choral work, opera, composing and other art-play educate and feed our souls. In individual 60 or 45 minute lessons Sept-June, students learn pieces, technique and expression which they share in 4 workshops and performances during the year. Lessons encourage mindful presence while mastering the technical demands of learning this beautiful "harp with hammers." Listening is key...listening for beautiful tone, for expression, for excellence, for the resistances that inevitably arise and emergence of solutions. So is practice...a dedicated continuation of listening and playing at home. No matter the age or ability, as we unleash fluency, musicianship and expressivity and understanding. Both children and adults move forward, depending on practice, at least a level a year.
